Timothy PottsGetty Celebrates Hiring of a $600,000 Director After Limping Along for Two Confusing Years

Timothy Potts, a 53 year-old native of Sydney, Australia, has been hired by the Getty Museum in Brentwood to fill a two-year old vacancy as Museum Director. He will be working with James Cuno, the Museum President, who said he looks forward to working with Potts, who is considered to be one of the world’s best with an appetite for taking risks in acquiring extraordinary works of art. The Getty has recently had to return 40 works of art which were of questionable foreign origin. Cuno and Potts have agreed that the Getty will no longer buy antiquities of unknown origin. Getty was anxious to land Potts and his first year salary including a bonus, will be $600.000.

While Brentwood Councilman Bill Rosendahl has also been the Los Angeles City Council representative for Westchester for a relatively short time, his Westchester constituents like him so much, they are fighting to keep him against the wishes of the Council Redistricting Committee. The mapping committee has insisted on shifting the majority of Westchester residents to the Eighth District of Councilman Bernard Parks. His Westchester constituents like Rosendahl so much that they are conducting a major fight to keep him because he has represented them so well. The Redistricting Committee relented and now most of Westchester has been returned to the 11th District.

Brentwood Builder Pays $11,500,000 For a Santa Monica Lot Assessed at $1,500,000

NMS Properties of Brentwood has outbid 18 others to secure the Denny’s Restaurant lot at the corner of Lincoln Blvd. and Broadway for $11,500,000. The lot, less than an acre in size was valued so high because it is near the terminus of the Metro rail train connecting Santa Monica to Los Angeles in year 2016. Jim Anderson of NMS said his company is planning first floor stores with apartments above them. The Norm’s restaurant kitty-cornered to Denny’s was also sold recently in connection with the sale of a large antique warehouse behind it.

Luxe Hotel Goes From Failure to a Booming Success As Owner Plans Major Expansion

Thirty years ago, fashion entrepreneur, Efram Harkham, bought what has become the Luxe Hotel on Sunset in the Brentwood-Bel Air area, only to see the hotel struggle due to mismanagement. He finally quit his other job and took over the hotel management solving the problems in just one year. In 1995 he bought a second hotel which became the Luxe Hotel on Rodeo Drive, Now Harkham is planning to make the Luxe brand a nationwide operation. On May 1, Harkham will announce the conversion of a Holiday Inn near the Staples Center into a Luxe.
