In 1912, textile workers in Lawrence, Massachusetts struck for decent wages and working conditions — and they won. Their victorious strike, begun one year after U.S. socialist women founded International Women’s Day (IWD), was led by immigrant women who organized across 25 ethnic groups and numerous factories.
Bring your favorite toast, poem or spoken word piece to Radical Women’s annual IWD gathering to honor the 100 years of solidarity with women strikers, past and present. Thursday, March 8, 7:00pm. Solidarity Hall, 2122 W. Jefferson Blvd., Los Angeles.
