During the construction, the Children’s Division will be relocated to the second floor of the Library beginning on February 7th, 2012. The children’s library operation will be closed to public access from February 4th to the 6th in order to facilitate the move.
The project, estimated to take 18 months, will include reconfiguring the space to allow additional seating for patrons, make more efficient use of staff resources, better security and a technology zone.
The Teen Zone will be enlarged and outfitted with improved technology, larger space for homework, and give teens space where they can work on group projects and allow for activities where teens can “be themselves.†In addition,
the new design will bring in natural light and rooms for quiet reading and study.
The main lobby will be altered to make more room for the public and additional seating. The customized spaces will be more amenable to the age groups the library serves.
