Everychild Within Us: A CD that Gives Hope to LA’s Youth

Imagine an alternative Los Angeles where no child suffers. This is the version of Los Angeles that the city’s Everychild Foundation is working toward.

Each year, Everychild funds a groundbreaking new project that serves children directly with tangible results that are monitored by the charity. The group hopes that these prototypes programs will inspire replicas across the nation and throughout the world to improve the lives of children near and far.

Projects funded to date include a universally accessible playground on the grounds of an orthopedic hospital, a mobile dental clinic, a self-sustaining residential program helping youth aging out of foster care and many others.

The Foundation also advocates for legislative and public policy changes to assist unaccompanied homeless youth, children in the juvenile justice and foster care systems, and younger children aged zero to five. Everychild is a volunteer organization funded by member dues and contributions with minimal overhead – there is no salaried staff, no rent and no fundraising galas.

In another innovative move, the group has produced a CD, “Everychild Within Us†, a compilation of uplifting songs sure to make listeners smile. Artists include She and Him (Zooey Deschanel), Randy Newman, David Crosby, Shaun Colvin, Lisa Loeb, Kenny Loggins, Burt Bacharach, Dave Koz, Jim Wilson, and Katrina Carlson. The CD also features the voices of children from the streets of Los Angeles.

A sampling of the songs is available at: http://www.everychildfoundation.org/Everychild_Within_us.cfm

For more information on The Everychild Foundation:

CDs are $12.00 each; all proceeds will support Everychild’s work.
