Several weeks ago I was hiking in the Santa Monica Mountains to meet up with a group of wonderful people from the Sierra club. Through emails back and forth, I found out that they were going to speak before the Brentwood community council to request their endorsement of a letter to the LA City Council in support for ending the use of coal by 2020 as a source of power by the LA DWP. I thought what a wonderful idea to get to know more about the Sierra Club and more important to get to know the community that we were seriously looking to relocate in, in the near future.
What a mistake! I was very surprised by the angry, disrespectful, disruptive, rude, obnoxious and unwelcomed actions by several of the council members. They surely represent a narrow group of self-serving, power-grabbing pariahs, who do not represent the best interest of the town or businesses of Brentwood.
I hope in the months ahead, many in the Brentwood community will take advantage of the opportunity to see how they are ill served by these individuals on their council and make their displeasure known. In the mean time, I think we will look elsewhere for places to eat, shop and relocate.
