Friends of Robinson Gardens will hold its annual Black Tie Patron Gala, Jewels and All That Jazz, honoring the Kazanjian Family Foundation on Friday, May 7, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. with the “Spirit of Beverly Hills” Award, graciously donated by Pavillion Christofle. This year, in acceptance of this award, the Kazanjian Family Foundation wishes to honor the efforts of the Friends of Robinson Gardens in preserving and furthering the legacy of the Robinsons and their commitment to Beverly Hills and the greater Los Angeles area.
Michael, Virginia, Douglas and Michelle Kazanjian will accept the award on behalf of their Foundation which supports scientific, artistic, cultural, and other worthy causes, with an emphasis on programs for disadvantaged children and underprivileged youth.
Guests will enjoy an evening of color and carats starting with a jazz themed cocktail hour on the tennis court, followed by a sit down dinner catered by The Kitchen for Exploring Foods and dancing. Flowers by Mark Byrd will carry out the theme of “Jewels and All That Jazz†inside the tented space on the grassy backyard.
“We are excited to begin our two part Benefit Season, which includes our Gala and Garden Tour. These are our most important events of the year that allow us to raise revenue so we can continue to educate and serve the public and preserve this important California treasure forever,†says Leslie Kavanaugh, Friends of Robinson Gardens President.
Proceeds from the evening will benefit Friends of Robinson Gardens, a volunteer 501(c) non profit organization devoted to the restoration and maintenance of the historic Virginia Robinson Gardens. Friends have the enviable task of preserving one of the most beautiful estates in Beverly Hills. Their ultimate goal is to achieve accredited museum status so that every aspect of the residence and gardens will be presented according to the highest standards of excellence.
Friends of Robinson Gardens keeps Mrs. Robinson’s tradition of charitable outreach programs alive to Maryvale, Hathaway Children’s Services, and elementary school students who receive free educational tours. Friends also offer lectures on decorative arts, landscape, architecture, literature and a variety of other topics related to Virginia Robinson’s interests and collections. In addition, there are botanical painting workshops, practical gardening classes, and destination docent-led tours. This treasured estate provides a haven of cultural, historic, and architectural beauty to all who visit.
