Flair Cleaners Helps Southern Californians Clean Out Their Closets

Flair Cleaners has made it official. The memos have been sent to the location managers, the boxes are being readied, and the charities have been chosen and notified.
Excitement is in the air. Everyone is very enthusiastic about this program, said owner Gary Futterman. Since we started the clothing drive seven years ago, our customers have really gotten into the spirit of giving, and each year more and more clothing is brought in.

Beginning the day after Thanksgiving through December 31, anyone who has clothing items they would like to donate is encouraged to stop by one of Flair Cleaners five locations in Valencia, Burbank, Studio City, Santa Monica, and Redondo Beach. SoCal donors can find their closest Flair location at FlairCleaners.com. Large, festive donation boxes will be in the lobby of each store. Anyone is welcome to drop off items to sharethe more the merrier, said Futterman,

Flair associates have receipts on hand for those who would like to receive a tax deduction for their items. For those who might be concerned about donating too many clothes, not to worry. The Flair team members empty the boxes into additional containers at each location, and the clothes are collected regularly throughout the entire program. A tally is being kept by each manager, as all Flair staffers are keeping score, hoping to exceed last years gift of over 6000 garments.

This years charities are the National Council of Jewish Women Thrift Shop, St. Vincent de Pauls Thrift Store, and Helping Hands for the Blind.

The National Council of Jewish Women is a volunteer organization that has been active for over a century, championing the needs of women, children, and families.

St. Vincent de Pauls Thrift Store was recently awarded Best in America by the Independent Charities of America organization. Their focus is on creating many ways to give aid to the less fortunate.

Helping Hands for the Blind was founded in 1990 by Robert Acosta, who was the first blind teacher to teach sighted children in the LA Unified School District, and was also appointed by the late President Reagan to serve on the State Board of Guide Dogs for the Blind. Helping Hands for the Blind provides services and resources for the blind, such as help with legal fees, recorded books, and much more.
