RYHTHM AND GREENS HISTORY

RHYTHM AND GREENS HISTORY

Its that time of the year again when we the community get to enjoy the great area in which we live in by bringing a picnic and walking to the park for the 11th year of the Rhythm and Greens Summer Concert Series hosted by Deborah Kattler Kupetz. Taking place over the next eight weeks at the Crestwood Hills Park and concluding at the local Brentwood Farmer’s Market, families will have a chance to enjoy various types of world music, Started by seven mothers, Rhythm and Greens aims at providing quality family entertainment and learning opportunities during the summer for the children within their community and parks.

Begun in 1999, founder Deborah Kattler Kupetz assembled a group of friends from the Crestwood Hills Co-op while she was President of the pre-school for two terms as a way to keep the communal energy together. Funding the series with their own money, the initial summer opened with three free Sunday evening concerts. Additional support came from Crestwood Hills Co-op Pre-School as well as the Crestwood Hills Homeowners Association and many community members and friends. Rhythm & Greens is now a project of Community Partners and a 5013c.

The success of Rhythm & Greens is evidenced by the increase in attendance as the series continues to grow within the community of Crestwood Hills. Ten years later the mission remains consistent with the original vision…to create community.

This year we are hosting four concerts, the first three beginning at 5pm and each concluding with its own open mic session. Guests can read poetry, play an instrument or sing. Open mic will take place from 6pm till 6:20pm and all questions or submissions should go to mark@dkkevents.com The dates for this year’s summer concerts are: June 7, July 19, August 23, and September 13

Deborah Kattler Kupetz continues to provide quality global entertainment in a commercial free setting to local families within the Crestwood Hills Park area as well spreading to other public parks through its partnership with the Los Angeles Department of Recreation and Parks as a way to build community, When these great concerts are not taking place Kattler Kupetz is busy creating Earth-friendly events that blend style and taste with environmental responsibility for the private, commercial, and non-profit sectors through her green event planning firm Dkkevents.
