Any soft drinkers out there? You know, Coke® Pepsi®, 7-up® Mountain Dew® Jolt? Hey, is Jolt still out there? Hmm. Chances are, you are answering YES, and if you are answering, then why the heck are you talking to your computer screen, anyways? Seek help. For those of us that tend to have a tin can nearby when sitting in front of the computer, I have a treat for you.
Doesn’t it just drive you crazy when you get that nice, ice-cold soda, crack it open, listen to the inviting HISS as the carbonation that was pumped into the corn syrup begins to escape, and only to find that 10 minutes later, the drink isn’t so deliciously cold anymore? Man, doesn’t that just frustrate the heck out of ya? Well, it does me.
Enter the solution, from Coolit Systems, the USB Beverage Chiller!
Simple as pie – you plug this little box into any powered USB port on your PC or MAC, and a little ity bity tiny fan inside the box starts to silently purr creating a cold plate on top of it for your drink. A few questions come to mind? Ok, let me try to use my ESP and answer them.

Yes, it actually does work! I had my assistant test this unit out thoroughly, from a warm soda (YUK) to a cold one that needed to be kept cool. It really does get your drink cold! How cold? I would say about as cold as your average fridge will do. The plate gets cold almost instantly, and it will keep any already cold can cold indefinitely. A warm drink turns to a cold drink in about an hour, and THAT is pretty darn fast!
How much power does it suck from your little old computer? My IT person wanted to hang me on the nearest tree for even attempting to plug this thing into any computers on our network, but being the fate daring soul that I am, I plugged it into more than half a dozen computers and had no adverse effects. Sorry, Kathryn.

I think this may be a keeper, my assistant seems quite attached to this little gadget and, afterall, who am I to make people drink warm soda?
Super inexpensive, at only around $24.
Keep it cool!
