Three for The Road

More Limber Than Lumber
The SUV is dead. Long live the SAV. This BMW X6 is the company’s definition of a Sports Activity Vehicle. It has a choice of twin-turbocharged engines: a 3.5-liter straight six or a 4.4-liter V8. Either way, what the X6 lacks in rear headroom (just about fine for an average-height adult) it more than makes up for in performance and coolness factor. It’s amazing how something this big can drive so ridiculously well. From $53,275. www.bmwusa.com
Pink Pony
OK, so it’s not the most macho version of the perennial muscle-car favorite. But for every Ford Mustang Warriors in Pink Edition sold, Ford will donate $500 to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure breast cancer charity. The car comes in black, white or silver with pink stripes. Based on the Premium V6 model, which starts at $20,880. www.ford.com
Inside Job
The Hyundai Sonata has enjoyed a mid-life refresh for its 2009 model. The biggest changes have been to the interior, which seems a distinct notch up from previous models. There are revised seats, more audio gadgetry and voice-activated satellite navigation is now available. From $18,975. www.hyundaiusa.com
