Paul Revere Middle School hosted the Palisades-Brentwood Relay for Life to benefit the American Cancer Society on April 5 through 6, 2008. Volunteers joined together in groups to run or walk for 24 hours to raise money for cancer research. Local resident and Palisades High graduate Amy Madnick, who lost both parents to cancer, founded the event in 2004. Madnick was recently recognized by the Pacific Palisades Community Council with the 2008 Golden Sparkplug Award at its annual Citizen of the Year dinner on April 24. Kit Festa and Joy Festa Schroeder organized this year’s event.
