Kelly Ripa will receive the 2,561st star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame today, honoring a career that has brought her 20 Daytime Emmy nominations and four Emmys for her work as host and actress.

Talk show host Jimmy Kimmel and actor Joel McHale will join Ripa in speaking at the 11:30 a.m. ceremony in front of the El Capitan Theatre.

Ripa was announced as a host of what was then known as “Live! with Regis and Kelly” on Feb. 5, 2001, succeeding Kathie Lee Gifford. Ripa and co- host Regis Philbin received Daytime Emmy nominations as outstanding talk show host from 2002-2006 and 2008-2012, winning in 2011 and 2012.

Ripa and current co-host Michael Strahan won in the category this year.

Ripa joined the cast of the ABC daytime drama “All My Children” in 1990 portraying Hayley Vaughan, described as “Pine Valley’s answer to punk rock” by the website Soap Central.

Ripa remained a cast member through 2002, receiving Daytime Emmy nominations for outstanding younger actress in a drama series in 1993 and outstanding supporting actress in a drama series in 1999 and 2002.

Ripa also received Daytime Emmy nominations from 2005-2009 for co- hosting the Walt Disney World Christmas Day Parade with Philbin, winning in 2006, and outstanding promotional announcement, episodic, in 2011.

Ripa also starred in the 2003-2006 ABC comedy “Hope & Faith” and appeared in the films “Marvin’s Room” and “The Stand-In.”

The ceremony comes 20 days before the 15th anniversary of when Ripa first guest-hosted what is now known as “Live! with Kelly and Michael.”
