A name change and $13 million renovation have transformed an outdated hotel into a luxury destination right in the heart of Redondo Beach.
The Redondo Beach Hotel recently held a grand opening celebration, making the boutique property a perfect weekend hot spot for anyone after a getaway without having to travel very far.
The property, previously the Sunrise Hotel, closed at the beginning of 2014 for comprehensive renovations.
Douglas Pflaumer, Regional Director of Operations, has been with the hotel for four years and with the company, Pacifica Hotels, for eight.
He said he loved the overall redesign of the hotel, both inside and out.
“Balconies were added on the marina-facing rooms, which are great additions to the rooms, allowing guests to enjoy the harbor/ocean view,” Pflaumer said. “The expansive lobby and the rooftop patio/lounge with soft seating and fire pits have been very well received by guests. The comfort and style of the guestrooms with the upgraded features and new modern bathrooms.”
He said The Redondo Beach Hotel is the nicest boutique hotel in the area.
“Our team offers an exceptional, unique, and authentic hospitality experience to our guests,” he said. “The fountain in the front of the property leads to the expansive portico that ties in architectural elements from the city’s cultural history. The newly remodeled lobby is a perfect way to relax by yourself or meet new people. Plus, you can’t beat the views and sea breezes.”
Before the renovation, Pflaumer said the property had been well maintained over the years yet was outdated in design, furnishings, and layout.
“It was time to give the hotel a major facelift and modernize it,” he said. “The Redondo Beach Hotel has something for every type of traveler. We are located near downtown Redondo, the marina, and the beach. Guests have access to water sports, outdoor activities, dining, shopping and nightlife. We are a short drive from LAX. It does not matter if you are traveling for business, leisure, as a couple or as part of group – there is something for every type of traveler.”
In terms of local attractions, he said King Harbor has plenty to offer.
“There’s whale watching, sport fishing, sunset cruises, surfing, sunning, scuba diving, and biking along the strand,” he said. “Anyone who wants to embrace the beach lifestyle has the opportunity to dive into it in Redondo Beach. Guests who visit as part of a staycation find themselves transported to a unique paradise. It’s a fun, special pace.”
The property features 112 guest rooms and suites, and offers complimentary Wi-Fi, upscale bath amenities, plush robes, mini refrigerators, and 48” flat screen TVs. On-site amenities include a heated pool and spa, as well as a fully-equipped gym.
With two new flexible meeting spaces that total 4,633 square feet, The Redondo Beach Hotel is also ideal for corporate functions, intimate weddings, and celebrations, and can accommodate 35 to 75 attendees. Groups also enjoy complimentary hot deluxe expanded breakfast and fresh fruit, cookies, coffee, and tea in the lobby.
