The Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra raised a record-breaking $535,000 as East met West in elegant style at its annual gala, Under A Chinese Moon: a Celebration of Harmony, Happiness & Health, in observance of Lunar New Year.
The event was held Sunday, Feb. 8, at The California Club in downtown Los Angeles.
A unique fusion of vibrant Los Angeles artistry and timeless Chinese musical traditions, the fundraiser attracted more than 300 guests to ring in the Year of the Ram and honor powerhouse philanthropists Julia S. Gouw, East West Bank President and COO, and Judith Rosen for their dedication to the arts, LACO and the community.
Guests were treated to a compelling musical program led by LACO Music Director Jeffrey Kahane celebrating both the Classical Western and Chinese musical traditions.
The black-tie optional evening, chaired by Pat and Sandy Gage and Agnes Lew, combined the performance with a sumptuous Asian-inspired dinner and an opportunity to purchase one-of-a-kind auction items for an unforgettable evening.
Proceeds benefit LACO’s concert series, radio broadcasts and community engagement programs.
