At the Las Madrinas Annual Meeting held on February 13, Leslie Wilson, President, announced that over $600,000 will be donated to the Las Madrinas Pediatric Simulation Research Laboratory Endowment.
Under the direction of Dr. Theodora A. Stavroudis, the simulation laboratory provides a controlled environment that recreates real-life patient care settings such as a pediatric operating room, even the interior of a helicopter or ambulance so that healthcare professionals can further refine their life-saving skills. By working on a lifelike, artificial ‘patient’ medical staff develop their skills further to improve hospital safety and enhance pediatric patient care.
Children’s Hospital Los Angeles has been named the best children’s hospital in California and among the best in the nation for clinical excellence with its selection to the prestigious US News & World Report Honor Roll.
Additional highlights of the meeting included the announcement of two Las Madrinas members whose exceptional dedication and generosity have earned them a place on the Las Madrinas Plaque displayed in the lobby of Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. Members recognized as special Plaque Donors include Mrs. Stephen Harry Ackerman (Jane) and Mrs. John William Given (Margaret.)
