Most of us have seen the movie “It’s a Wonderful Life†Released in 1946, with film star James Stewart as George Bailey, a man who has given up his dreams in order to help others… Helping others, that is the core of the business at The Salvation Army – Westwood Transitional Village (TSA-WTV).
TSA-WTV was created in 1994 through the leadership and shared vision of The Salvation Army, Judge Harry Pregerson, government agencies, community leaders and countless volunteers. It was established to meet the needs of affordable transitional housing in Los Angeles County for homeless veteran and non veteran families.
One of the TSA-WTV programs include Adopt – A – Family for the Holiday Season. With the season being a time of family gatherings, gift giving, festive decorations and wishes for peace and goodwill, not every family can enjoy this special time of year. Some are faced with hardships or sadness that makes feeling the warmth and joy of the season difficult.
With this in mind, we ask that you please consider our Adopt – A-Family program. It is a wonderful way to help homeless veteran and non-veteran families in the midst of strife and struggle with food, clothing and a gift.
If you would like to adopt a family or have questions about our program, please e-mail your request to doris.hall-turner@usw.salvationarmy.org . If you are unable to adopt a family and would like to send a donation, please contact me at (310)477-9539 ext 104.
Happy Holidays!
